Hello all -
so, just to clarify just WTF is up with Ritual, John and I decided an update was in order.
So here goes.
Making a movie is difficult. Well, some parts are. The writing part was easy for me, and all the technical stuff was easy for John, but the rest of it has sucked so far. It took a lot longer to get it off the ground last september than we'd hoped (the fancy term for this is pre-production - there will be a test next week). And then we had a falling out with one of our main contributors, "creative differences" as it were. At least, creative differences is the creative way of saying something else.
ANYHOO...........
the movie is still moving along. We've decided to go back to the drawing board in a couple of areas, asked some other friends of ours to help out,. and gods be damned if this movie isn't going to happen. So, for now, know that your intrepid filmmakers are hard work in making this picture a reality.

RITUAL
The virus swept over the world, leaving nothing but death and a wasteland in its’ unmerciful wake. In the name of survival, four people committed the ultimate sin – a ritual sacrifice of one to preserve the whole. For seven years, they lived their lives in a façade of normalcy…but now the spell that had been cast is ending. The future of mankind is at stake. But who among those that are left would relinquish their right to exist so that others may live? And what, if anything, is worth living for in a world of death? The question will be answered, but not how any of them would expect……

Pre-production.........
So as you can see here, we did our first script readthroughs and screentests t'other night. Things are proceeding more or less to plan, and we're maybe a month away from our first legitimate shooting. John (that guy with the huge-ass foot to the left) is all over equipment, special effects, and animatronics. You should see the stuff he's got up his sleeve. I know I was pretty F***ing excited.
Plus, there's some things that are gonna get thrown into the mix, so I'm thinking that maybe there's gonna be another part or two floating around in there somewhere, but we'll see. Until then boys and girls, stay scared............

Hello all...........
Wow. Here we are, upon the threshold of a huge undertaking. Never thought I'd - or rather we'd be making an actual movie, but there's a first time for everything as it turns out. It took some coaxing and heretofore unseen motivation to undertake such a task, but it's gonna fun. So, the first update:
The first draft of "Ritual" is done - completed in three marathon sessions, and it f***ing rocks. Horror movies are not supposed to have happy endings, and I wasn't about to buck the trend. There'll be some revisions I'm sure, as this is a group effort, but in the end the story and the characters will be as compelling as we can make them. So there's that.
Second, our casting is 75 % complete. There's still somewhat of a question in casting our last big part, but that'll be resolved by sunday. No biggie.
Third, all of our sound and music is being handled by the extremely gifted Matthew Morse, who's been producing music by the score (get it? music by the score? nevermind.) ever since I can remember.
And finally, we're amassing our shooting equipment now, and we hope to begin principal photography in the beginning of August. That's all for now from me. More later.......
